Which of these airguns are the best?
Evanix Renegade Rifle Combo pcp airgun. .22 cal, 1,072fps
Benjamin Discovery .22 cal airgun. pcp with 900 fps
Gamo Hunter extreme Air rifle .22 calibur 1,300 fps
RWS 350 magnum feuerk raft .22 calibur 950 fps
Which one of these is the best airgun and which one has the most foot pounds and how much is it?
I am confused because i heard pcp guns or more powerful but the gamo hunter has 1300 fps and its a .22 So does anyone know?
So, you have to be very careful about velocity claims on air rifles these days. In particular coming from Gamo, if you read the fine print it will probably mention that those speeds were achieved with PBA Raptor pellets which are a much lighter weight hardned pellet which will give higher velocity, but not necessarily more energy.
It is a little difficult to compare PCP air guns, the Evanix and the Benjamin, to spring piston guns which are the Gamo and RWS. Generally speaking PCP air guns are repeaters, you get good power and are very civilized shooters, but require all of the equipment to fill their tanks. If you are shooting close to home, or are going to be doing hunting where you aren’t taking that many shots in the field, then PCP can be an excellent option. I’m not much of a PCP airgun shooter, but both of the guns you listed have excellent reputations.
On the spring piston side, personally, I like the RWS 350 better than I like the Gamo Hunter Extreme. Gamo makes a nice rifle, but in my experience and in the testing that I’ve seen on line their velocity claims tend to be overstated and the Gamo guns I’ve shot don’t have the “feel” of the German, Austrian or English guns. Still many people own both of the rifles you listed and both are well up their respective lines so I don’t think that either is a bad choice. Of course, both are break barrel single shot rifles, and take more work to learn how to shoot well than a PCP gun, but you also don’t have to worry about running out of gas when you are out and about with a pocket full of pellets.
